Meet The CEO - John Bessler

I’m from Villa Hills, KY and I went to Covington Catholic High School and the University of Kentucky.

I first started working at Bessler’s U Pull and Save when I was 14 years old. My first role was breaking down wheels and tires in the tire pile and cleaning the field.

I think my greatest strength is my ability to connect with people. When I was younger, I was always really timid and even though I loved being around people, I had a hard time making connections. As I grew as a person and came out of my shell, I still had the same love for people and my years of shyness taught me how to build connections with people regardless of how outgoing they are.

I’m proud to lead a company of 100+ employees. I’ve always looked at it as a responsibility to the employees and their families. Having a win-win relationship where our employees feel like they’re a part of our family, they are able to provide a good living for their families, and we’re able to operate a successful business in the process has always been my number one priority.

To me, family is a group of people who have each other’s back, help each other grow, and look out and care about each other. At the end of the day, most of us spend more time at work than at home so the people we work with becoming family whether we’re related or not. It drives my passion to help people personally. Whether that is helping them achieve their dreams in life, helping them financially, or decisions about what benefits to offer, we always look at it through the lens of what we would want for our own families.

The ideal experience that we’re working to deliver for Bessler Auto Parts customers is to deliver an exceptional experience that’s built on trust and mutual respect. As a family-owned and operated business since 1985, we aim to treat our customers the way we would want to be treated.

One habit that I swear by to stay on top of all of my responsibilities is to start every day in calm silence. Before I dive into work, I like to sit still and think about all of the blessings that God has brought into my life.

There is a lesson to learn in all of the adversity that we face if we learn to look for it.

My favorite hobbies are snow skiing, hiking, CrossFit, and boating.

My first vehicle was a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was of course a wreck that was rebuilt!

I think what separates Bessler’s from others is our culture. We’ve been very intentional in listening to our employee’s feedback on how we are doing and constantly strive to improve it.
